A traditional 'sliding sash' window is usually made up of two sashes that slide up and down (or side to side), one in front and one behind, in vertical grooves, counterbalanced by lead weights on cords. Sliding sash can be opened at the top or bottom, or both. These windows are perfect for listed buildings however you can only fit were regulations allow.
We recently worked on this beautiful castle located in the outskirts of Ballymena, an extension had been built in the 1960's which allowed us to supply and fit Upvc Sliding Sash windows in white, glazed with a single white Georgian bar to fit with tradition. We were delighted to work on this project.
A listed building is a building that has been placed on one of the four statutory lists maintained by Historic England in England, Cadw in Wales, Historic Environment Scotland in Scotland, and Northern Ireland Environment Agency in Northern Ireland.
If you live in a listed building, it may not be destroyed, extended, or changed in any way without permission from the local planning authority, which typically consults the relevant central government agency, particularly for significant alterations to the more notable listed buildings.
Replacing listed windows can be a tricky task because of the requirements that have to be met. But finding the right window company doesn’t have to be. NH Trade are happy to supply Traditional Sliding Sash for heritage windows, providing in-house design, supply, installation and after-care service. All our Architectural Heritage Windows are fully customizable and made-to-order in nearly any shape, size, colour, interior wood species or upvc finish.
